Moving up.... moving on.... and just moving :)

Hello! It's been a long time... I feel like I need to update some of you who don't live near us and hear things as they happen. Chris and I moved over Thanksgiving weekend! We're in a bigger house that has plenty of room for us, his office, and guests. We were truely blessed to find this home! It's perfect for us! A long stretch from where we started this year... things are beginning to change and we're starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel!
As far as Chris's health, he is doing very well! His leg looks amazing! He can get along well without a brace, although it feels much better with it. He rides bikes, works out, walks around, everything normal. Chris has a few more tests over the next 6-9 months to be sure his infection is gone, and then we can begin to think about another surgery to replace his ligaments. One major thing that needs to happen, and ya'll can pray for is health insurance! I'm really hoping to get it through my employer. I've looked into purchasing it, but can't seem to find anything that will cover his leg outside of a group policy. Any advice would be very helpful. I don't know what I'm doing here. :)
For Thanksgiving we were able to spend time with our family. We looked back on the year, and found many many things to be thankful for: Chris's life and health being a major one. We're also thankful for all of you friends and family that continually pray for him. We are blessed to have you all. Thank you!

May 30th I am HOME!!!! WOOO!!!

I am home and out of pain. I can't tell you how relaxing it is to come home to your own bed. The smells of your own stuff, (and a clean home) and food.... I love regular food!!! Candi made me fresh salsa, a great arrangement of fruit... and I am completely out of pain. I tell ya, if you are ever feeling bored with your life, spend a month in a hospital and I promise you your opinion will change. It will change you!

Leg update

I am able to put more weight on it everyday. Its really exciting because my leg was really small and I was afraid it would take forever for everything to grow back. I am going everyday from now on back to the hospital to get 1 IV for 2-4 weeks now.

So far, all cultures are negative. Wahoo! Thats about it... Start therapy next week to get full flex of my knee and walking. Will update in a week.

Thank you family and friends for your support over the past month and YEAR... holy cow, where did it go?!

Thank you Nathan!

Nathan brought down the Xbox 360 for Chris this morning and spent most of the day with him. What a great brother! Chris had his midline in his arm changed today. It's pretty gross and wipes him out so he's sleeping now. We didn't expect them to do anything major today, but they did. Thank you Nathan for being there! And lucky for you Vicki and Troy showed up just in time! Love you!

An Idea for all of you....

So many of you have sent emails to Chris letting him know you're praying for him and thinking of him. Thank you so much! I was thinking it would be a good idea to send him email's on a lighter note: jokes, funny videos, pictures... things to cheer him up :) His email is ChrisBrns@gmail.com. Mine is CandiceBurns@cfl.rr.com, in case you need to get a hold of me. OR you can just them on this blog and he'll see them here too. Thank you to all of you!!!

To wrap it all up, for today....

Basically, I wanted to set up this website to be able to update everybody. I know everyone would like to know what's going on, and it's hard to make so many phone calls everyday. I will do the best I can to keep you all informed daily. Also, please feel free to leave an encouraging word for my husband. He's a wonderful man of God, and has been so strong through all of this. He's my hero :) We've been through weeks of IV therapy, and infections. This infection kept on mutating and hiding, making it very difficult for the doctors to treat, and risking Chris's leg and life. It's been a daily struggle. We been blessed with amazing doctors: Dr. Peden (his surgeon) and Dr. Callahan (infectious disease doctor). I know everyone has been praying for Chris's healing and strength, for the doctor's wisdom, and for the strength of all of us involved. And your prayers are being answered daily. Thank you so much! We are truely blessed! The Lord has blessed me greatly by giving me a day of rest just before the chaos starts again. I have been rested and ready to go, everytime. His timing is perfect, even down to the smallest detail. After several times in the emergency room, 4 surgeries, weeks of struggling to discover what this infection is while driving an hour away for his IV, and increased intense pain due to the infection, we are now able to see the light at the end of the tunnel and find some rest. Chris is an amazing man. I am proud to be his wife, his helper, and his friend.
